My son was a little bit of a surprise, but a welcome one, a disguised blessing kind of surprise.
I left the working world to become a stay-at-home mom. No one ever told me that is a job in itself. The way I look at it, I left one career to work on my career as a mom and CEO of my household.
I have a beautiful little family. A fiancee who is loving, supportive, strong, sweet, and a pain-in-the-ass, all at the same time. And a son who is maniacal, active, curious, smart, sweet, and a pain-in-the-ass, also all at the same time.
I love my family and friends. They have helped me through this turbulent journey every step of the way. I've also realized through this journey that life is too short to keep the negative around us. If you can't love both me and my son, you are not worth my time.
Motherhood will teach you more about everything than anything else ever could.
I'm 24. Which means by today's standards, I'm a young mom. But I'm also still a twenty-something. Don't count me out of that picture. I can be both.
I love to eat, but cooking- not so much. If you expect that just because I'm someone's mom now, that I will make a pie in my lifetime, think again. I try to work on my cooking skills, but it is definitely one of the things I am most self-conscious about.
I am a SUNY Geneseo alum. It is, and forever will be, a major defining characteristic of mine. When I was an undergrad, people always told me "College will be the best four years of your life", and I never took them seriously. I wish I had, because that statement is one of the most truthful I have ever heard.
The path I am on in life is definitely not what I had pictured, but I love it.
